Drawing visual inspiration from early twentieth century postcards, newspaper articles, and engineering diagrams, the broadside evokes the valleys inundated to create New York City’s rural water supply reservoirs between 1905 and 1965. At the same time, the image suggests the continuity of these places and the fundamental historical inseparability of the urban and the rural.
